Tucked above the Hong Kong-style eatery Chop Chop Cook Shop in the heart of Yaowarat, Goldsmith is a new speakeasy that channels the elegance of the old Silk Road era. Think opium den meets merchant parlour — all dressed in vintage oriental glamour. Its signature cocktails take cues from ancient Chinese trade, using local ingredients like kaffir lime, young ginger, dried shiitake and longevity herbs from the surrounding markets. The result? Nestled at the back of L’Envol Art Space in leafy Soi Suan Phlu, Vol de Nuit is a speakeasy with a European soul. Designed by Arnaud Nazare-Aga of Pop-Art Gallery fame, the bar is a haven of dim marble-lit intimacy, serving a curated selection of craft cocktails, fine wines and artisan beers. Step further and you’ll find its Garden Bar — a serene courtyard oasis that offers a breath of calm amid the city’s chaos.
