A Personal Encounter with Robert Parker

With the Hong Kong International Wine and Sprits Fair and also the WineFuture 2011 conference in town, we can regard November as the wine month of Hong Kong. Internationally renowned wine critics and writers such as Jancis Robinson and Robert Parker will also be in town to host different wine tasting events and dinners.

One of the most attractive events that Robert Parker will be hosting includes the "Up Close and Personal Dinner with Robert Parker". An exclusive on November 9 at Petrus at the Island Shangri-La in Pacific Place at Admiralty, the dinner will provide an once-in-a-lifetime chance to sit at the table with Robert Parker with rare vintages. The dinner features nine incredible wines paired with a menu designed for the occasion by Petrus' chef de cuisine Frederic Chabbert and sommelier Nicholas Pierron.

The menu includes:

- oven roasted calamari, squid-ink jus paired with Château de Beaucastel Hommage à Jacques Perrin 1998
- Marans egg and beetroot, sautéed wild mushroom paired with Paul Jaboulet Aîné Hermitage La Chapelle 1978
- sautéed red Spanish prawn Carabinieros paired with Ham Carrasco Guijuelo 36 month Puro Iberico Bellota Dominus Estate 1994
- roasted squab from Vendée, duck liver and grilled potatoes, offal gravy paired with Château Cheval Blanc 1990
- black truffle and celeriac risotto paired with Château La Mission Haut Brion 1982
- venison filet with grand veneur sauce, braised Chantenay's carrot paired with Château Lafite Rothschild 1986
- roast Hugo Desnoyer's milk veal with Annie Bertin's autumn wild herbs and vegetables paired with Petrus 1989
- cheese selection by Bernard Antony et Philippe Olivier paired with Château Latour 1961
- petits fours paired with Château d'Yquem 1975

Limited to 20 guests, the seats for this dinner are up for bidding, with a minimum bid of US$10,000 with 50% above the minimum bid benefiting the South China Morning Post Operation Santa Claus charity.
