Heed this useful price list if you plan on uncorking a special bottle at a restaurant
Corkage fees, a crucial point of consideration for wine enthusiasts when deciding where to dine out, are covered in this useful feature. Know that when restaurants allow their customers to BYOB (bring your own bottle), not only are they offering bottle service (preparing a wine bucket, maintaining your bottles at the optimum temperature and refilling your glasses), but they are also sacrificing potential earnings from their drink sales. Therefore, what might at first seem like an extraneous cost is, in fact, a fair trade-off in the world of F&B.
Considerate customers should show respect for a restaurant's corkage fees, but if you'd rather not incur the expense, simply ask the sommelier on duty to recommend a house pour. The following information for 70 odd restaurants in Kuala Lumpur were compiled using the 2020 and 2021 Tatler Dining Guides. All prices are for 'per bottle'.
