Make the most out of your mealtime with our roundup of timely treats

Phase 2 restrictions may have kicked in over the weekend, but if we are all careful and follow the stringent measurements in place, we can continue to safely dine out (in smaller groups) and support our favourite restaurants.

The restaurants, which have done the necessary preparations to ensure a safe dining experience, make sure you also eat well with delectable new offerings. At Jaan by Kirk Westaway, executive chef Kirk Westaway has updated his ‘Reinventing British’ menu to craft a selection of plates inspired by his home country.

Cé La Vi and Potato Head have something new to offer too; the former has an inspired menu of Modern Asian fare presented sharing style, while the latter has an expanded menu that includes small plates and decadent sliders to complement the signature burgers. Hungry for more? You can also support Senshi, a new Japanese à la carte buffet restaurant which opened last week.

And if all these foods made you thirst for refreshing sparkling wine, The Rose Veranda has the answer: an afternoon tea spread paired with a flight of Nyetimber sparkling wines.

Inspired by spring, executive chef Kirk Westaway presents a new menu featuring his ‘Reinventing British’ cuisine. A meal here is a delicious journey to his home country with creations that start with snacks of fish and chips, reimagined as a tubular shell that encases Atlantic codfish with a touch of sherry vinegar, and Devon cheddar cheese pancake.

It only gets better from here with more delectable dishes, including the Cornish sea bass and English peas. It takes cues from the classic fish and peas staple in England, but it’s elevated with the use of carabinero prawns to lend a natural sweetness to the dish. Book here.

Executive chef Joey Sergentakis continues to celebrate communal dining—albeit in groups of five—with a refreshed menu of sharing-style modern Asian dishes. But first, whet the appetite with the momotaro tomato & burrata salad, a creamy and zesty appetiser finished with a drizzle of XO sauce and opal basil vinaigrette. It's placed atop furikake focaccia.

From the premium sharing plates, standouts include 1 kg Rice Flake Crusted Whole Lobster and Crown Roast of Maimoa Lamb. The former is an impressive plate of meaty crustacean accompanied by bell pepper and pineapple fricassee and enhanced with Chinese Sausage and sour-spicy ginger reduction. Good enough for the whole party, the latter consists of 1.5kg New Zealand-sourced lamb served with spicy tomato compote and roast potatoes and rosemary. Book here.

There are more delicious dishes to look forward to at Potato Head, thanks to executive chef Adam Penny who has expanded the spring/summer menu with tapas-style small plates and decadent sliders to complement the signature burgers.

Start with the cheekily named tapas such as Pokemon and This Little Piggy. The first dish is a break from the meat-heavy options and consists of marinated yellowfin tuna akami bathed in ponzu sauce studded with organic quinoa, avocado, cucumber, tobiko and dashi mayo. As the name implies, This Little Piggy is a dish of Dingley Bell pork belly whose meaty flavours are offset by the watermelon relish and smokey mayo dip. These make for good accompaniments to your burger favourites, whether it’s the signature Baby Huey or From Russia with Love, featuring Tindle chicken. Book here.
