Marriott International plays culinary matchmaker through an online platform that matches your palate to some of the island's best restaurants

If deciding on where and what to eat is a contant challenge for you, help from the Culinary Matchmaker is at hand.

No, it's not Tinder for the gastronomically challenged. This is a recently launched online initiative from Marriott International, where answering specific questions on their website, will help you discover what kind of gourmand you are. Essentially, if your results deem you to have a discerning palate, you're tagged as Sophisticated.

Other profiles include Adventurer (which means you're willing to try new and exotic foods); Classicist (prefers to stick to traditional fare); Fun Lover (interested in new dining experiences that tickle the palate); and Hands-on Artist (budding chefs who want to know how the dish is made).

And that's not all, as you will then be paired with a bevy of Singapore’s best restaurants the app reasons will suit your palate. There are 17 participating establishments from JW Marriott Singapore South Beach, The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore, The St. Regis Singapore and W Singapore - Sentosa Cove.

They include Akira Back, Colony, Cook & Brew, LaBrezza, Pool Grill, Seasonal Tastes, Skirt, Summer Pavilion, Wan Hao Chinese Restaurant and Yan Ting.

A restaurant affair
To sweeten the deal, Marriott International has also introduced the Your Culinary Affair Restaurant Week, which takes place from June 15 to 24 at the participating outlets.

Other than the chef’s specials, which are exclusive to the event, you’ll be able to partake in a number of activities, which include art jamming sessions at Akira Back and a beef tartare making class at Skirt.

“Singapore has an extremely dynamic food and beverage scene, and we are always looking for initiatives that put a spin on the whole dining experience,” said Bart Buiring, Chief Operations Services Officer, Marriott International, Asia Pacific.

Who knows, maybe dating apps will take a cue from this and find a way to match you with the perfect dinner partner as well.
