Start with the incredibly smooth buffalo mozzarella’s Burrata with roasted cherry tomatoes salad.

A cosy trattoria-style Italian restaurant, Villa Danieli serves novel Italian cuisine that is hearty, delicious and immensely satisfying. Step into the restaurant and you will be inundated with the lovely scents of freshly baked breads and wood-fired pizza even before you take your seat.

Presiding over the restaurant’s current menu is its director of culinary for bar and restaurant, Chef Rajesh Kanna. Under his expert guidance, you can look forward to an array of mouth-watering selections from all corners of Italy. Mix and match choices of starters to get your motors up and running; we highly recommend the smooth and creamy buffalo mozzarella’s Burrata with roasted cherry tomatoes salad done in Mediterranean style. The poached king prawns salad in Catalana style with crispy vegetables, black tomato strawberry coulisse and Sicilian extra virgin olive oil is fresh and leans towards the sweeter side.

In a unique move, Kanna also introduces Italian veal striploin in a starter dish, roasted in low temperature and served with fresh seared yellow fin tuna carpaccio, tonnata sauce and fresh truffle. The result is zesty and delicious. The final starter that we urge you to try is the Wagyu beef carpaccio with roasted white asparagus and parmesan cheese mousse, pine nuts, arugula and celeriac chips, topped with honey balsamic reduction and flower salt flakes. The crunchy arugulas and the tender beef slices go extremely well together. Add on a bowl of soup to the appetisers above, you will not go wrong with the wild mushroom truffle scented with crispy shimeji mushrooms and ricotta cheese mousse.

Whether you are a pasta or pizza fan, you will not be disappointed with what Kanna has crafted for Villa Danieli. For the pasta, the rigatoni pasta with spicy creamy beef ragout in Florentine style, enhanced with fresh basil, chilli and extra virgin olive oil, is almost like a premium and Italian version of chilli pan mee, sans the runny egg and long, pulled noodles. The cheesy Piemontese pizza is also a winner, being charred just right and its taste chords are in a comfortable place between savoury and sour.

For mains, the beef tenderloin with pan seared foie gras, honey Marsala beef jus, pumpkin mash and vegetables (pictured above) will satisfy any meat eaters with its fortifying flavours. In comparison, the cod medallion stew with Mediterranean vegetables in tangy tomato sauce and lemon chickpea mousse (pictured below) is subtle on the palate, thanks to the light and delicate taste of the stew.

End your meal at Villa Danieli with either of Kanna’s almond pannacotta with berries salad (painstakingly made from scratch from vanilla beans) or the smooth signature tiramisu.
