Wondering where to eat this Valentine's Day? We're letting you know the best dining options in Hong Kong, from lavish lunches to at-home feasts

Valentine's Day is just around the corner. And even if you're not loved up, we see the occasion as a good of excuse as any to indulge in the city's best eats. With social distancing rules currently in place in Hong Kong until February 3––and these looking likely to be extended until February 14––although restaurants are not able to be open for dinner service, there are still plenty of lunch sets and takeaway options to enjoy. 

Plus, as the day of love this year falls on the same weekend as Chinese New Year, we have a long weekend to look forward to. So in between celebrating with family and friends to ring in the Year of the Ox, be sure to book in for one of these romantic meals.

Dining out


Located in The Landmark Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong, two-Michelin-starred Amber is always sure to impress. Helmed by executive chef Richard Ekkebus, for Valentine’s Day the restaurant will be offering two special set lunch menus––a five course option including free flow of pre-selected champagne, white and red wine; and the six-course Full Amber Experience, which is complete with a glass of Dom Perignon.

Since opening in May 2020, Chaat has been one of the most popular restaurants in the city, with tables still notoriously hard to come by and advance bookings a must. Putting its signature modern spin on Indian cuisine, the Valentine's Day sharing four-course menu––featuring three starters, three mains, two sides and one dessert––promises to dazzle with dishes including scallop moilee with caviar; foie gras biryani; and truffle cheese naan. The meal is topped off with a choice of either a glass of rose champagne or a Valentine’s cocktail.

Buenos Aires Polo Club

Ideal for an intimate lunch date, book a table at Buenos Aires Polo Club this Valentine's Day. The Argentinian steakhouse will be serving an array of a la carte specials from February 12 to February 14, including the likes of a half dozen Fine de Claire oysters and a delectable dulce de leche molten cake. Served alongside the signature dishes of grilled bone marrow with oxtail malbec jam; and General Pico black angus beef, they make for the perfect bookend to a sumptuous feast.

Paying homage to the time-honoured steakhouse in an elevated setting, Henry will be serving an indulgent six-course Valentine's Day menu this February 14. Beginning in style with royal cristal caviar and ruinart blanc de blancs champagne, other highlights on the menu include burrata with Hokkaido uni and Japanese fruit tomato; and Snake River Farm tenderloin with black truffle potato purée and bordelaise sauce. For dessert, guests with have the task of choosing between three decadent offerings: cheesecake with poached cherries; Eton Mess; and chocolate fondant with pretzel milk ice cream.

Zuma will be serving a sumptuous Valentine’s Day Tasting Menu for you to enjoy with your significant other this Valentine's, with dishes on offer including sea urchin, caviar and yellowtail ceviche; langoustine tempura with kataifi and sour dashi; and warm raspberry chocolate cake with Tahitian vanilla.

Zuma is also bringing the romance home this year with its Valentine’s Day Takeaway Tasting Menu. Complete with a bottle of Ruinart champagne, the menu includes Japanese wagyu tataki with truffle ponzu; and miso marinated black cod wrapped in hoba leaf.

With two-Michelin stars, Écriture's executive chef Maxime Gilbert takes French cuisine to new heights. And what could be more fitting for Valentine's Day than the food of love? For the occasion, the restaurant is serving a six-course menu, complete with show-stopping ingredients such as Royal Caviar Club Schrenckii, Hokkaido scallops, A5 Wagyu and truffles. 

If you want to enjoy the cuisine at home, Écriture is also offering a special Valentines heart shaped caviar tart for two, which is available for delivery and pick-up.

Wine and dine this Valentine's Day with Carbone's four-course menu of New York-Italian classics. The family-style Valentine’s Day menu is designed for two to share, and offers dishes such as truffle fettuccini; dover Sole with brown butter, lemon and parsley; and the signature ribeye diana with pancetta and cacciatore sauce. The show-stopping dessert of strawberry flambé is also sure to set hearts aflutter.

Dim Sum Library

From pretty-in-pink rose har gau to rose and chocolate heart-shaped bao, Dim Sum Library's 10-dish Valentine’s Day lunch makes for the ideal treat. The special lunch set comes complete with a cocktail for him and for her.

As well as enjoying the limited-edition menu in the restaurant, it is also available to enjoy at home via Deliveroo.

We may still not be able to travel, but you can still be transported to South America with Mono's Valentine’s Day tasting menu. As part of the six-course lunch, guests can not only enjoy morel and tendon tamale; landes foie gras with gala apple mole and jicama and much more, but a special selection of house-bottled champagnes can also be enjoyed as part of a wine pairing to complement the experience.

Everyone's favourite pasta bar is the ideal choice this day of love. Offering a range of special dishes that will be part of the Pici weekend brunch over Valentine's weekend and available as a la carte dishes, indulge in truffle provolone starter before tucking into the lobster hearts pasta––before finishing on a sweet note with the Cannoli dell’Amore. A special Rossini pink cocktail with prosecco, strawberry and pop rocks will also be available.

Okra will be serving an exclusive Valentine’s Omakase which promises to celebrate the perfect pairing of food and sake. The 10 intricately prepared courses includes dishes such as cod shirako with yuzu kosho, as well as Bafun uni-topped Atsuyaki Tamago––Chef Max’s take on the traditional Japanese omelette. 

To make the most of the occasion, guests can opt for a short pairing of four glasses of sake, with a longer pairing of eight glasses of premium sake also available.

Getting the Valentine's Day celebrations started early, Rōnin will be serving a special crab-centric menu on the weekend of February 6 and 7. The tasting menu has been created for you and your loved one (or just your best friend of choice!) to share, with all dishes featuring chef Matt Abergel's favourite crustacean––crabs.

Spoil that special someone this year with Red Sugar's six-course menu, which is paired with specially crafted his-and-her cocktails. Set against the stunning city skyline, the bar and restaurant will be serving dishes such as grouper fillet with black crispy garlic and asparagus; wild duck double-boiled Soup with dendrobium, duck and foie gras dumplings; lamb belly and milk-fed baby lamb rack and more––with the meal finished off with a Fontainebleau dessert featuring strawberry juice and strawberry sorbet, followed by Petit Fours.

Bring the two-Michelin starred taste of Tate Dining Room home this Valentine's Day with Date by Tate's special gastronomy boxes. The romantic Valentine’s Gastronomy Box features the refined starters of caviar and obsiblue prawn with purple cauliflower cream and jelly of beef consomme with beef tongue and Jerusalem artichoke, paired with Tate's famed. bread basket. The next course is a warm, sweet corn soup, followed by the main course of either beef bourguignon or cod fish with scallop mousse. Rather stay loved up at home? Simon Rogan at Home's special Valentine's Day package will have you covered. The five-course spread comes lovingly prepared and ready-to-eat, with dishes including celeriac soup, parsley oil and cheese sauce; Lobster pot topped with Simon Rogan caviar; beef fillet with mushroom duxelles, horseradish creamed potato, pickled celery, crispy kale and caper jus; and an apple tart with blackberry and toffee sauce for dessert. Top top of the set, soda bread with whipped brown butter and chocolate truffles are also included.

The 9-inch Milk Chocolate Sweetheart Cake is decked out in layers of devil’s food chocolate cake with layers of salted caramel, lathered in milk chocolate buttercream and lovingly sprinkled with retro heart-shaped candies––plus, you can wish your sweetheart sweet nothings by adding a personalised love note to the top.
