The acclaimed restaurant from Japan’s Nishi-Azabu opens its first international outlet at Causeway Bay’s V Point

Tokyo’s acclaimed restaurant La Bombance has opened its first outpost in Hong Kong, taking space at V Point, a new building in Causeway Bay’s Tang Lung Street. The new restaurant takes after the original in Japan, serving its signature ‘New Japanese Cuisine’ with seasonal prix fixe menus featuring dishes designed and created by the restaurant’s owner chef Makoto Okamoto.

Best recognised for his unique and avant-garde sense of culinary style, chef Makoto Okamoto grew up in a family of food in Nagaoka City in Niigata Prefecture, where his father runs a sushi restaurant. Chef Okamoto later took up internships in both traditional Japanese and French restaurants, which helped him shape his signature New Japanese Cuisine. He first opened La Bombance in Nishi-Azabu in 2004, showcasing good taste on the basis of solid and fundamental culinary skills, and now the restaurant’s success has allowed him to open in Hong Kong this month.

Like its sister restaurant in Tokyo, Hong Kong’s La Bombance serves a seasonal set menu, showcasing dishes presented in exquisite tableware manufactured and imported directly from Japan. Dishes from the nine-course menu takes not only Japanese ingredients, but with a promise and respect to seasonality.

La Bombance’s Hong Kong outpost is equipped with three private rooms and can seat a total of 50 guests, complete with a panoramic view of the Victoria Harbour. The nine-course tasting menu changes according to the availability of ingredients and is priced at HK$1,280 per person.
