You don't have to stay overnight at the boutique hotel to try these exciting new dishes
Marrying tradition and modernity, The Chow Kit by Ormond Group is a traveller’s sanctuary—not only for rest, but also for exploration and inspiration. Nestled in the buzzing district of Chow Kit, the 113-room boutique is rich in character and history as it draws inspiration from its electric neighbourhood and surroundings.
The Chow Kit Kitchen & Bar, one of CNN Travel’s Best New Restaurants in Asia Pacific to Try in 2020, has launched a new menu that takes cue from the familiarity of our roots. Curated by Chef Juwahir Mustafa or most commonly known as Chef Ell, these dishes were pieced together using locally sourced produce from artisanal vendors and the nearby Chow Kit market.
Explore Malay cooking with a touch of modernity in the likes of Claypot Curry Fish Head with grouper, ladies fingers, tomatoes and tofu or Ikan Assam Pedas with golden pomfret in a spicy tamarind broth. From Chilli Crabs to Ayam Kampung Emas, the new items hail from both North and South Malaysia. The Bergedil Sumbat sees deep-fried bean curd skin stuffed with potato, minced beef; served with chilli padi kicap, this starter is perfect for sharing. All dishes can be accompanied by Basmathi rice or Nasi Ulam.
