The new cake shop offers health-conscious treats to satisfy sweet cravings

We love a good cake, and even better if they’re a guilt-free option – though healthy desserts are arguably scarce in the city. Step in The Cakery, a new bakery concept, that is setting up a three-month pop-up shop at the Landmark, showcasing the brand’s healthy sweets from cookies to cupcakes, cake pops and desserts.

Formerly in the finance industry, Shirley Kwok, owner of The Cakery, is switching careers into one that turns out nutrient-rich baked goods, starting with offerings that are gluten-free, wheat-free, and dairy-free, while incorporating organic ingredients such as gojiberries, chia seeds, raw honey, and Himalayan pink salt into her creations. The pop-up shop is offering eight varieties of cupcakes to start, including:

-  Sunflower (Pumpkin cupcake with fresh pumpkin puree frosting)
-  Monkey Business (Lemon chia seed cupcake with lemon frosting)
-  Double Date (Low-fat, low refined-sugar cupcake with sticky dates)
-  Snowball (Coconut cupcake with coconut flakes)
- Dark Horse (Gluten-free cupcake with rich chocolate base and chocolate frosting)
