1. Oh Cha Matcha

Spice up your matcha adventures with another speciality matcha café that's coming your way on March 16, 2020! A passion project by the same people behind Garage 51 and Coffee Société, Oh Cha Matcha sees plenty of millennial pink and earthy green—this new store has all it takes to add to your aesthetically pleasing Instagram feed.

One of Oh Cha Matcha's strong points is its inclusiviTEA (see what we did there). The matcha café offers 6 types of milk—cow's milk, soy milk, almond milk, oat milk, cashew milk—thus catering to lactose-intolerance. Secondly, none of their beverages contain sugar (unless you ask for it), but you wouldn't even know it. The café will serve hot food and host matcha appreciation classes in the near future, so check them out in TTDI.

In collaboration with Niko Neko Matcha, The Tokyo Restaurant's head chef Shouhei Matsui has crafted a houjicha (roasted Japanese green tea) cheescake that's plated with a faint dusting of matcha powder. Surprise yourself with another wholesome dessert on the menu, the matcha meringue roll, which will instantly satisfy your matcha cravings; airy yet rich with toasty hints of fine grade houjicha, the dessert will entice you to return for more.

Catering to hardcore matcha fans, Niko Neko Matcha is a picturesque café serving sumptuous baked goods and speciality matcha drinks. The brand is known to collaborate with its contemporaries, such as Dew, The Tokyo Restaurant, and more. In fact, Niko Neko's matcha baked goods can be found at over 20 stores in KL and PJ. Our go-to right now are their butter matcha cookies baked in collaboration with Ladurée. But we're hoping the seasonal Niko Neko x Chubkies (see left) will return to the sweets scene.
