Growing Up

Since it first showed up in the downtown dining scene, Tanzini at G Tower has gone from a high end modern Italian-European restaurant focusing on catering to intimate parties and couples to recently evolving to a more casual dining stage for bigger groups and families.

This change also brings about more dishes that feature seafood as the star, while the restaurant's commitment to homemade fresh pasta and rustic Italian mains remains unchanged.

Provencial Stuffed Squid

A new dish on the menu and a viable seafood entrée the stuffed squid, filled with herbs, chard and breadcrumbs resting on a bed of smoked capsicum salsa and basil oil. The squid itself has a slightly chewy texture, with a minor creamy aftertaste that's accentuated by fresh flowers and herbal influences. The salsa nails that smoky peppery taste, that when mixed with the olive oil, adds a nice fresh feel to the overall delivery.

Tomato & Crab Meat Timbale

While Tanzini offers a small but focused list of soups on their menu, the tomato and crab meat timbale stands out for being chilled. With a fresh tomato base and a mixed layer of crab meat, avocado and tomatoes, the dish has an interesting mix of acidity, briny savouriness and a light umami taste. The slightly chilled temperature helps to keep the soup fresh and crisp, resulting in a refreshing entrée.

Beef Cheek Fettucini

With a fragrant aroma that's unmistakably part tomato, wagyu beef and melted cheese, Tanzini's hearty beef cheek fettucini is a pasta dish many can enjoy. Thanks to flavours that are easy to like, this dish is great either to share or as a main. The wagyu itself is soft with a satisfying taste, with carrots and tomatoes to bolster the overall profile. The fettucini gives a nice bite and the addition of melted cheese gives this pasta dish a soft umami taste.

Duck Confit Batata

Taking a page from the French cookbook, duck confit receives a Tanzini twist that's served with sweet potato bourbon and poached beetroot. Salty savoury with a slight tinge of duck game, the meat is tender and moist that when paired with the sweetness of the bourbon and tart beetroot helps to cut the fat and heaviness of the bird. For those looking for something other than the usual beef or chicken, the restaurant's duck confit is something to consider.

Halibut Fillet

Fancying seafood instead? Tanzini serves a flaky and buttery Alaskan halibut fillet that comes with cauliflower purée, sautéed bak choy and salsa verde to spice things up a little. With texture comparable to cod and a lovely juicy oily mouth feel, the halibut's natural flavours pairs well with the fresh local vegetables served.

Bridge Bar

Those looking to indulge in an evening drink after dinner before heading home can adjourn to G Tower's Bridge Bar located on the same floor. Being in a decked out bridge suspended 30 floors up does induce a few "oohs" and "aahs" initially, especially when guests figure out that some parts of the bar's floor have glass cutouts that offer an unhindered view all the way down.

You'll find fuss-free cocktails and drinks served by the glass or bottle her along with a lounge vibe that exudes a semi-private ambiance.

Negroni

The classic Italian cocktail made of gin, Campari and vermouth rosso receives a fruity twist in the form of a maraschino cherry instead of the typical orange peel at Bridge Bar. While most negronis come served bold and concentrated, this version is more accessible in that drinkers will be able to enjoy this medium-bodied mixture much quicker than instead of waiting for the ice to open up its flavours.

Strawberry Daiquiri

The drink's name alone will appeal to women rather than men and rightfully so for this sour, sweet with sugar rimmed take on another classic cocktail. The drink itself is light and fruit with a pleasant strawberry aftertaste. As you drink towards the bottom of the glass, the taste of alcohol becomes more apparent. If you’re looking for something light to drink, this can be it.
