Spycraft and subterfuge reign at this cheeky new takeout brand dedicated to the classic Cantonese dish

Manners maketh man, as the ubiquitous saying uttered by Colin Firth in 2014's Kingsman: The Secret Service goes—but among Hong Kong's ravenous crowds of office workers, so does your choice of lunch. Rising to the occasion is Pigsman, a new takeaway outlet in Causeway Bay that reframes the quintessential Cantonese diner favourite, baked pork chop rice, with all the slick tailoring sensibilities and killer instincts of the British movie franchise's royally-appointed secret agents.

"Pork chop is actually very popular in Hong Kong, however, it's usually treated as a low-grade, or what-so-ever kind of food by people," says co-founder and creative director Kason Lau, who is also the brains behind restaurant brands like Chi Chi Cham and Yi Hung Yuen Hotpot Cuisine. "We want to 'rebrand' the perception of how people think of eating pork chop rice—it can be a cool thing or even something that people might like to post about on their social media."

Pigsman's storefront is certainly social media-worthy, styled as it is to resemble a Savile Row suitmaker, replete with mannequins sporting the finest threads. Inside, a double-height interior allows room for display cabinets featuring all manner of gadgetry and personal effects befitting a trained assassin, including assault rifles, walking umbrellas, writing instruments, wristwatches, eaux de toilette, and of course, the signature Kingsman spectacles that provide the wearer with enhanced vision. On the opposite wall are golden busts of pigs, adding to the tongue-in-cheek humour of the entire venture.

On the menu is a formidable lineup in porcine specimens: Agent Red (baked cheese pork chop with fried rice and apple), Agent Eggy (baked cheese carbonara pork chop with fried rice and poached egg), Agent Jack (baked pork chop rice with whisky BBQ sauce) and more, alongside a selection of pork chop burgers, pork chop on toast, sides of fries or meatballs.

Targeting "basically anyone who loves pork", Lau says his secret organisation is currently recruiting new agents—we're certain he'll have little trouble in that regard.

In other pork-related news, Porkcentric is now open in Tai Hang, replacing the old home of Second Draft.

Pigsman is currently available for takeout and delivery on Deliveroo, Foodpanda and Oddle
