This project in Tai Hang brings together an all-star cast including the Mongkok brew bar, Young Master Ales, and May Chow of Little Bao

Hong Kong’s beer scene is stepping up another notch with the addition of Second Draft, a new opening spearheaded by the passionate brew heads behind Mongkok’s TAP — The Ale Project. Partnering up with local brewers Young Master Ales and chef May Chow of Little Bao, the team have created a distinctly local homage to the humble gastropub.

Located on the ground floor of boutique development Little Tai Hang, the venue plays the part of welcoming neighbourhood watering hole with its combination of a killer beer offering and locally-inspired dishes that toe the line between east and west. The interiors take after the iconic Star Ferry, with its stenciled wall notices, buffed wooden furniture and green and white paint job.

The entire range of Young Master Ales brews will be available as well as a bevvy of international and local craft beers. Adding to its street cred, Second Draft’s storage systems will keep each featured beer at one of three temperatures identified as best suited to enhance its flavour profile.

Like its sister pub in Mongkok, the food offerings don’t play second fiddle to the booze and we’re excited to try dishes such as the Shanghainese inspired flower crab pasta, mapo burrata salad and fried chicken served with nam yu (fermented tofu) and roasted garlic dip.
