The fresh additions to the F&B scene have had to adapt quickly to the current coronavirus restrictions by bringing the food to your home

Running a new restaurant business is hard, especially during Phase 2 (Heightened Alert) where establishments have to temporarily shutter their doors again to prevent the spread of Covid-19. Fortunately, they are still allowed to operate in the kitchen (with safety measurements in place) to be able to whip up their signature so we can still enjoy them in the comfort of our own abode. Here are the new restaurants offering sumptuous menus for takeaway and delivery.

Yen Social

Opened in July 2021

Newly-opened yakiniku restaurant Yen Social is bringing some of its signature dishes to your home with the special introductory set. The menu comes with head chef Jones Chen’s two signature dishes—the Farmer’s Salad which is assembled with seasonal greens, watermelon cubes and yuzu dressing, as well as the Wagyu beef noodles. Chen spent six years refining this recipe and the result is a richly simmered soup bobbing with gelatinous Japanese Wagyu beef shank and tendons, daikon and local herbs. For a yakiniku experience at home, opt for the set that comprises premium and well-marbled cuts like Wagyu ribeye and Wagyu striploin. Order here.

Gram Café & Pancakes

The famous pancake house’s second outlet in Punggol Waterway only opened this month but had to shutter for the second Phase 2 (Heightened Alert). At least you will still be able to tuck into its signature and exclusive offerings, which you can order online. If you are a fan of its fluffy pancakes, opt for the chilled pancake box, featuring four pancakes filled with vanilla, chocolate, strawberry and matcha. On to the savouries and you have the likes of Gram Hamburg Pancake, served with a juicy steak and sunny side up, and chicken teriyaki pancakes accompanied by sunny side eggs and roasted herb potatoes. Canchita Peruvian Cuisine

Opened in May 2021

Two weeks after its official opening, chef-owner Tamara Chavez’s Peruvian restaurant had to temporarily shutter its doors due to dine-in restrictions. But Chavez and team are making the most out of the current situation with their curated delivery and takeaway menu, “Canchita a tu Casa”.

Have a Latin American feast at home, starting with causa and arroz con mariscos. The former is a Peruvian cold casserole that blends mashed potatoes and potato salad, and the latter is a delectable seafood fried rice cooked with crab butter and white wine and packed with crayfish, chilli and tomatoes.

Trust us, it only gets better from here as the mains are up next. Highlights include lomo saltado, a Cantonese-Peruvian version of stir-fried beef tenderloin, tomatoes, onions, crispy green peas and fries, and pescado palmita, which is essentially a crisp sea bass bathed in “Chilcano” reduction and served with a side of Amazon salad, gooseberries and heart of palm.
