Mr & Mrs Fox kicked off 2021 with a fresh, new look. With the help of interior design studio Skynoa, the Instagram-worthy restaurant and bar unveiled a lighter, brighter space that’s overflowing with plants and art, prescribing a green way of living amid the frenetic nature of city life.
Potted plants fill all corners of the three-floor restaurant and bar, creating a calm oasis in the thriving Taikoo Place business district. Cascading pothos and ferns flow from floating gardens, and monstera—the millennials’ houseplant of choice—and other tropical palms quite literally bring life to the space, making it the ideal photo backdrop for happy hour drinks or weekend brunch.
A new collection of art adds to the convivial atmosphere and include works by Hong Kong-based artists Pasha Wais and Peter Yuill. Structural columns are given Wais’ signature colourful touch, while Yuill’s ink drawing provides a stark, mesmerising contrast with its complex geometric abstraction. There’s also work by Spain’s Javier León Pérez among other local and international artists.
No detail is too small, and Skynoa has included little surprises along the way. For example, the bookcase-lined foyer on the second floor offers a quiet spot for a tea or coffee break – not to mention a picture-perfect shelfie. Be careful not to lean on one specific set of shelves though – while they might only look like a home for hardbacks and even more potted plants, they also act as a concealed door to a larger dining area.
Interiors aside, the food and drinks menus were also refreshed to include tantalising European delicacies and hand-crafted cocktails. You’ll find hearty meals that centre on fresh, seasonal ingredients – start with Hokkaido scallop carpaccio with caviar and sea urchin or the 80g steak tartare with bone marrow alongside a slow-cooked quail egg green herb salad. You’ll need a drink after a long day in the office, of course; why not sip on handcrafted cocktails such as the Peruvian brandy-based Thelma & Louise Sour or the refreshingly herbaceous Shiso Mule? Then tuck into the grilled main dishes such as 450g dry-aged strip steak or the barramundi, while the Boston lobster rice with mussels is perfect for sharing. Vegetarian options include organic mushroom risotto, aubergine lasagne and Omnipork burger, to name just a few. No meal is complete without dessert; finish on a sweet note with classics such as baked Alaska and peanut banana ice cream, raspberry chocolate lava with vanilla ice cream, and apple crumble.
