As Hong Kong emerges from the restrictions of the pandemic's fifth wave, Mother's Day marks an occasion to show the lady responsible for raising you that you're doing anything but taking her for granted. Make a day out of it by booking a table at these restaurants

1. Amber

Go all out with Amber's four and six-course Mother's Day lunch menus (HK$1,918 and HK$2,758 respectively) with a complimentary glass of Ruinart Blanc de Blanc champagne for each diner; or book the eight-course dinner tasting menu (HK$3,168), which comes with a glass of Krug Grand Cuvee champagne instead. Expect seasonal dishes like duck foie gras with sugar snap pea, and lemon verbena; and ocean trout with trout roe, horseradish and shiro soy. Mothers will also receive a 30ml bottle of My Burberry Blush eau de parfum at the end of the meal, as well as an invitation to a flower pressing workshop at the Burberry store in Alexandra House.

2. Zuma

Can't source enough bubbly to keep Mom happy? Head to Zuma, which is hosting a 2.5-hour champagne free-flow brunch for HK$998 and up. For this price, the whole family can feast on sushi, sashimi, yakitori and tempura, along which a choice of mains, including Chilean sea bass with green chilli ginger dressing, spiced lamb cutlets with hatcho miso, and miso-marinated black cod wrapped in hoba leaf. A dessert platter has been created especially for the creation, and comes loaded with Valrhona milk chocolate molten cake with raspberry ganache, Hokkaido vanilla custard with organic strawberries, and prosecco mimosa chiffon cake with rose-infused French buttercream.

3. 1908BC

For readers who have spent some time or grew up in the UK, 1908BC offers a place for you to get your fix of British-Chinese cuisine. For the weekend of Mother's Day, the restaurant is offering two menus: the Old Hong Kong Mother’s Day Menu (HK$620 per person) hews more traditional with eight courses including double-boiled pork and hairy fig soup, fish maw with Chinese mushrooms in abalone sauce, giant river prawns in tangy tomato sauce, and the signature soy sauce whole chicken.

Meanwhile, the New Hong Kong Mother’s Day Menu (HK$480 per person) embraces a touch of British influence with dishes like crispy wonton with house red sauce, honey pork ribs, butterfly prawn toast, and crispy aromatic duck served with Chinese pancake, cucumber, scallion, and sweet duck sauce. To sweeten the deal, moms get a glass of prosecco on the house, too.

4. La Rambla

Journey to Catalonia with La Rambla's Mother's Day brunch buffet (HK$780 per person). Available only on May 8th, mothers will be greeted with a bouquet of flowers upon arrival, before settling down for a brunch menu that includes welcome appetisers, an all-you-can-eat section of truffle bikinis, patatas bravas, croquetas de jamón, and chistorra with padrón peppers. Paellas are made to order, while a carving station will be doling out dry-aged bone-in US prime rib, Segovian suckling pig, and Spanish seabass fillet. Top it off with a selection of sweets, washed down with free-flow packages starting from HK$450 per person.

5. Hutong

For sky-high views and fiery Beijing cuisine, look no further than the Mother's Day tasting menu at Hutong, served over this weekend. Clocking in at HK$4,388 for four people, the menu covers seven courses, plus a special dessert of lychee white chocolate mousse for the special day. 

For a more casual affair, Hutong is also offering a free-flow brunch (HK$988 per person) that includes unlimited portions of dim sum, Sichuan chilli peppered chicken, and beer, sake, and house wines. To celebrate the special day, moms will also be served a complimentary cocktail, the Perfume No. 10 (Tanqueray No. 10, rose ginger, passionfruit, yuzu).

6. Bathers

For something a little off the beaten path, head to Bathers at Lower Cheung Sha Beach on Lantau Island. Against a backdrop of sun, sea and sand, the restaurant is serving an all-day, three-course menu (HK$375 per person) on May 8th that includes starters like burrata with beef tomatoes and crispy salt and pepper squid; a choice of mains between roast spring chicken, beer-battered lingcod and chips, a Wagyu cheeseburger, and eggplant penne pasta, before ending with a dessert of lemon pavlova or chocolate brownie.

7. Tin Lung Heen

Reach for the stars with a menu dedicated to South African Yoshihama abalones dreamt up by chef de cuisine Paul Lau. Over a series of six courses, diners can tuck into delicacies like braised lobster soup with snow swallow, braised Yoshihama abalone with shiitake mushroom in supreme sauce, and the umami-loaded wok-fried wagyu beef with green pepper and sliced garlic. With the sommelier's wine pairing, the bill per person comes to HK$1,788 each.

8. Aria

Settle down for some Italian extravagance at Aria. Chef Angelo Vecchio has whipped up a five-course dinner menu on May 8th for HK$1,180 per person, which brings diners on a journey of fine gastronomy across dishes like langoustine with fruit gazpacho and mint-infused vegetables, Ravioli di Branzino seabass, and Guancia di Manzo beef cheek. All moms will also receive an LKF Elite Gift Card with HK$200 dining credits to spend while dining at any LKF Concepts restaurant—such as Ciao Chow, Fumi, and Porterhouse—for their next visit.

9. Honjokko

Tucked away inside Pirata Group's The Sixteenth F&B complex, Honjokko offers a playful take on sushi cuisine with its Mother's Day brunch. Shared small plates of wagyu tataki, hamachi and gyoza lead into unlimited assorted sushi and sashimi. A choice of mains includes lamb chops, wagyu beef tenderloin, and baby chicken, topped off with a selection of seasonal desserts and fruits. The menu is available on May 8th and is priced at HK$598 per person.

10. Gallery at Four Seasons

For something with a lighter touch, take Mom to the Gallery in the lobby of Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong where, on the afternoon of May 7th and 8th, live cooking stations will be serving made-to-order aromatic crêpes with fresh berries and Madagascar vanilla gelato. Diners can add on treats like slow cooked octopus salad or osmanthus scones with homemade makrut lime mango jam, washed down with tea from Yu Teahouse and coffee from Omotesando Koffee.
