A total of 50 establishments make the cut this year and more than 20 of them are hawker stalls

The local food world is abuzz as The Michelin Guide Singapore revealed today this year’s Bib Gourmand list. It's the sort of dining that's close to the heart of food-loving Singaporeans, so many do wonder if they would have to start getting used to longer queues at their favourite haunts.

Five were dropped from last year's guide, but a surprising 17 new establishments make it into this year's list, bringing the total to 50 establishments. More than 20 of them are hawker stalls serving local staples such as curry chicken, prawn noodles, and fried kway teow.

Also included are budget-friendly Japanese and European restaurants (with spending capped at $45), which only reaffirms Singapore's diverse culinary scene.

The list is revealed in the lead up to the Michelin Guide Singapore 2018 gala and awarding ceremony on July 25, where gourmands will find out which of their favourite restaurants have earned their well-deserved one, two and three stars.
