The coveted Michelin Guide will make its debut in the City of Angels at the end of the year, just in time for foodies to make their reservations in 2018.
Bangkok will soon be one of the only two places in South East Asia (Singapore) to receive a Michelin Guide, the reputable dining book that awards “stars” to restaurants of exceptional quality.
The guide is set to launch in December, starting a 5-year relationship between the Michelin group and the Tourism Authority of Thailand to boost the country’s growing position as a world-class food destination.

A recent article by Eater comments that Bangkok is currently undergoing a food revolution, where high-end restaurants are sprouting and making waves to receive attention from awards lists.
The three restaurants everyone is betting on are Gaggan, Nahm and Bo.Lan, yet the rich culinary scene in the City of Angels will surely see a more colourful star-studded cast when the guide debuts.
It will be interesting to see if any of Bangkok’s street food makes the cut, similar to how some of Singapore’s hawker stalls received a 1-star award.
With both Thailand and Singapore now having an official Michelin Guide in the country, is it a matter of time before Malaysia can also make the same claim?
Thailand is the seventh Asian nation to receive the respected dining guide, along with, Japan, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Singapore, Macau and Seoul. Look out for the guide at the end of the year to see if your favourite eatery makes the list.
