The casual diner replaces Jalan with delicacies inspired by family recipes and home cooking
Joining popular bars and restaurants such as Uma Nota and Shady Acres on Peel Street, Meraki Hospitality is opening a new restaurant named Mamma Always Said in the space that formerly housed their street food-inspired eatery Jalan. Focusing on home cooking and family-style dining, the new all-day dining establishment is set to present a wide selection of nibbles and drinks throughout the day.
Guests can feast on a series of small plates for sharing, including cured white anchovies with confit tomato and olive oil; homemade X.O. fried chicken wings, and calamansi fried squid. Dinner options expand into larger mains such as hanger steak with salsa verde; grilled octopus with romesco sauce and spicy black pepper aubergines. The dining experience is complete with daily desserts on rotation, with notable varieties such as strawberry jam doughnuts; chocolate brioche rolls; lemon meringue tart and passion fruit cheesecake served with coconut jelly. The new all-day restaurant also offers a handful of lunch items, from sandwiches and fresh salads to spaghetti Bolognese and Malay spiced chicken burger, crafted by the group’s executive chef Corey Riches.
