From Nasi Lemak to Ha Cheong Gai burgers, McDonald’s is well known for taking local favourites and mixing them up into something really special every year during National Day and this year is no different. This week, the fast-food chain announced that they would be collaborating with Singaporean actor Ben Yeo to introduce a Crispy Hainanese Chicken Burger which is supposed to taste like our favourite Chicken Rice.
The new burger features a juicy and crispy fried chicken patty topped with crunchy cabbage, carrots and lettuce. The combination is paired with mayonnaise, ginger and a special garlic chilli sauce.
The burger comes with a dark sweet sauce that is meant to be drizzled on the delicious creation and it is already creating much buzz ahead of its launch on August 5 with fans speculating about the taste of it.
In addition to the burger, McDonald’s is also launching a limited-edition Kopi Frappe as well as Crisscut Fries and their Banana Pies ahead of National Day.
McDonald’s and Yeo have certainly outdone themselves with their creative burger creation but they are far from the only ones in Singapore turning local favourites into burgers this National Day. In fact, keep reading to find out all the places in Singapore that are offing unique Singaporean burgers.
1. Hard Rock Cafe: Briyani Beef Burger
Briyani is flavourful, spicy and one of the best comfort foods when you’re feeling really hungry. This National Day, Hard Rock Cafe has taken our favourite Indian dish and reimagined it to form the Briyani Beef Burger.
Imagine all that local flavour packed into a beef patty, topped with pickled vegetables and served with papadum. You really just have to try it when it becomes available from August 6 to August 9.
The best part is that every order of their Briyani burgers come with a cold and refreshing Tiger Beer that is perfect for the heat.
Do note that the burger is only available for self-collection though.
