If you want to eat clean, there are a few restaurants that have popped up recently offering delicious and nutritious fare. But don’t worry, there’s still plenty of places to truly indulge.
Our pick for: meats, tipples and a beautiful sea view
The great Pan American highway, which stretches from north to south America, isn’t only known for its dramatic landscapes. Its bounty of culinary gems are equally indulgent, and what restaurateur-owner and bar consultant Julian Serna is showcasing in his most recent concept.
Its location at the Sentosa Golf Club guarantees a stellar view of the Singapore Straits, which enhances the overall experience. But you really come here for the meats, whether you're craving a heavenly piece of lamb marinated with thyme and rosemary, or Colombian chicken coated with chilli glaze, all cooked in a traditional pit called asador.
Drinks are the care of seasoned beverage manager Ricky Paiva (formerly of Manhattan Bar), who has crafted an extensive list of drinks that complement the menu.

Our pick for: casual dining on addictive food reminicent of Bali
Another import we’re excited about is this casual restaurant-bar from Seminyak, Bali, which is famous for its hefty platters of food and exquisitely grilled meats.
Come with an appetite, and perhaps three hungry friends, who are the reinforcements you'll need to demolish 1.2kg of aged Australian black angus beef that’s been cooked sous vide then grilled before it's served with roasted vegetables and potatoes.
Add to that other signature dishes such as the German Platter of crispy pork knuckles and sausages; classic aglio oglio cooked in virgin oil and sake; and the hot favourite Rumours grilled cheese burger with two layers of cheese, fat chips and homemade beef patty.

Our pick for: healthy dishes that pack a flavourful punch
This new restaurant at Hilton Singapore champions great tasting nutritious food. Executive chef Vijayakant Shanmugam explains, “The menu brings a new balance to healthy eating…we serve healthier versions of local south east Asian favourites alongside salads and desserts.”
Choose the Avocado Composition if you want to start your day right; it’s packed with couscous, grapefruit, heirloom tomatoes and lettuce, and dressed in a creamy avocado blend. And if you still prefer your meat, opt for the free-range pulled pork burger lathered with melted cheddar cheese and coleslaw, and sandwiched between lightly toasted sunflower seed brioche buns.

Our pick for: delicious yakiniku meal paired with sake
The yakiniku experience here is elevated with its choice of beef—the Kumamoto Kuroge breed that’s famous for its well-marbled meat. It’s available in different cuts such as the rare and utterly tender Chateaubriand and the Tomo Sankaku, both are expertly grilled.
Opt for the house specials, too, such as the beef carpaccio and beef tartare seasoned with house made sauce to heighten the umami flavours. But if pork is what you’re craving for, there’s a good selection of quality-sourced pork loin and Tontoro (neck) cuts.
Its sake collection, an impressive 40 types sourced from all over Japan, serves to complement the meal. Just like in a typical yakiniku restaurant in Japan, and in the spirit of omotenashi, the first cup served is on the house.
Our pick for: Mexican fare with a cityscape view
This latest dining concept brings the energetic and fun Mexican dining vibe 45 floors up at the Singapore Land Tower, Raffles Place. Not only will you have the most amazing backdrop of the city, you’ll be able to tuck into a galore of traditional and modern Mexican dishes by native chef Jorge Leon.
It’s a must that you start with a sundowner and we recommend the reposados (tequila aged in an oak barrel for a year) or the sangria, but if you prefer no alcohol, the Horchata is a good bet.
Feeling hungry already? Good, for there are plenty of food to share such as the Les Guacamole, a chef’s signature where the dish is prepared in front of you, or the meaty lobster tacos with a ginger mint dressing.

Our pick for: guilt-free eating
It’s interesting to note that this casual vegan restaurant is located near a gym, so you can always head here for a filling, guilt-free meal after a good workout session. Chefs Addis Tan and Dylan Choong offer a compact menu that puts greens first.
Notable highlights include the purple cabbage steak; the vegetable is lightly grilled to give it a good crunch then presented on a plated decorated with cherry tomatoes, garden salad and a green pea wasabi puree. On to the mains, the barley risotto studded with daikon, braised nuts and pink radish, and the pumpkin gnocchi in a savoury tomyum broth are the standouts.

Our pick for: hearty porridge and Cantonese delights
It has a strong Singaporean following in Hong Kong, so it was no surprise that it finally opened a permanent local outlet at Shaw Centre. Its signature congee is still the main attraction, but here, it’s complemented with an assortment of lip-smacking Cantonese dishes.
The cheung fun is one of them, and these slippery sheets of noodles are accompanied by your choice of sakura shrimps, fried fritters and shredded duck and preserved vegetables. Planning to come with friends? Add in the beef brisket, Hokkaido scallop noodles and frog legs with ginger and spring onions to share.
