The holiday season is approaching with new sweets and Chinese winter dishes

There is good news for food lovers, and then there is great news. The expected arrival of Christmas festive menus is enriching our holiday celebrations despite the current social distancing measures. Even though hairy crab season is ending and Chinese New Year has yet to arrive, there is plenty to look forward to throughout this holiday season, as we anticipate the arrival of new cakes and cookies, and Chinese winter dishes to warm us up for the cooler weather to come.

Black Sheep Restaurants' Butter Cake Shop Launches 6-Month Pop-Up At Landmark

The popular online cake shop will take physical form for six months. From 1 December through May 2021, dessert lovers can purchase Butter's most popular cakes at their pop-up store at the Landmark. This esteemed bakery presented by Black Sheep Restaurants serves some of the best American-styled baked goods in town. The pop-up bakery will offer four pies (apple, cherry, banana cream, and Tennessee whiskey caramel pecan) and five cake varieties (triple chocolate, carrot, NY cheesecake, pineapple upside-down cake, and Christmas-exclusive red velvet candy cane). Pies are available at HK$80 per slice and cakes at HK$90 per slice. Guests can also enjoy them with a root beer float at HK$70 and strawberry limeade at HK$50. The pop-up cake shop will be located at Shop 239 at the Landmark.


Beef & Liberty's New Burger And Festive Sweets

Beef & Liberty welcomes the holiday season with a new burger. Created by chef Neil Tomes, the 'Sweet Baby Cheesus' burger features warm buns filled with a Scottish beef patty, brie and blue cheeses, onion jam, cranberry sauce and homemade pickles. The Sweet Baby Cheesus burger is priced at HK$139 each, with an alternative option of substituting an Impossible meat patty for an additional HK$20. Beef & Liberty also launches new sweet offerings, including a warm Christmas cookie skillet with cream and an almond coconut black tea latte. All three new Christmas offerings are available at all locations of Beef & Liberty. 


K11 Musea's Avobar Launches New Dishes

Avobar launches a new series of festive dishes just in time for Christmas. The avocado-themed restaurant's Christmas celebrations cover four new dishes, including a pulled turkey brioche served with sliced avocado, wasabi mayo, salsa verde, and a turmeric-poached egg; herb-crusted duck breast served with sweet potato mash, rocket leaves and avocado. The new Christmas special is complete with chocolate fondant served with avocado cream and a special avocado hot chocolate. The new festive avocado dishes are available from now until 31 December.

The Most Instagrammable Bento Boxes At Shang Palace

Kowloon Shangri-La's Shang Palace launches two new bento boxes that include chef Cheung Long-Yin's signature dishes from the a la carte menu as well as selected dim sum such as century egg with pickled ginger; steamed green chive dumpling with minced pork; and homely mains such as sauteed prawns in Sichuan sauce and braised e-fu noodles with mushrooms and conpoy. Alternatively, a chef-recommended bento box covers more seafood such as marinated squid in supreme soy sauce; sauteed scallop with kale and carrot; and deep-fried fresh abalone in spicy salt. Both bento boxes come with a complimentary chilled mango pudding as dessert. The bento boxes are priced at HK$288 and HK$388 each, available every day with one-hour advanced reservation and in-store pickup.


Get Nourished With Winter Warmers At Landmark's China Tang

China Tang at Landmark Central welcomes the coldest months of Hong Kong with an all-new winter menu. From 1 December, chef Menex Cheung will present two of his new menus—the winter nourishing menu and the winter solstice menu. The menus will feature a range of dishes with ingredients that are believed to assist the body in retaining warmth according to traditional Chinese medicine. Notable dishes include snake broth with fish maw, chicken, mushroom, and black fungus; and braised lamb brisket with tofu stick, bamboo shoots, crispy tofu rolls and seasonal vegetables. Cheung's winter menu also showcase claypot rice with a topping of cured Chinese sausages, and air-dried duck. The new winter dishes are available throughout December 2020.

Yardbird Does Thanksgiving For A Good Cause

On 22 November Yardbird will host a one-day only Thanksgiving menu, where proceeds are donated to ImpactHK, a charity group that provides homeless individuals with healthy meals, safe housing the social support. provide the homeless with a connection to friends, society, nutritious meals, and safe housing. Yardbird's Thanksgiving menu will feature katsu-style turkey breast; binchotan-grilled turkey leg; stuffed turkey wings; sweet potato gyoza; milk bread stuffing; and fried miso apple pie. Tsim Sha Tsui's Tirpse Presents Autumn And Winter Delights

Tirpse launches a new seven-course menu where guests can choose their starters and mains from a selection of dishes. Notable highlight dishes include Japanese smoked salmon with green yuzu, homemade ricotta and smoked salmon roe; chestnut veloute with celery and Sichuan peppercorns; oyster with Okinawa spinach and shiso flowers; and the season's best Racan pigeon with maitake mushroom and alpine garlic. The new dishes are featured in the restaurant's new set menu, including festive menus available from 23 to 30 December, 2020. Prices range between HK$1,388 to HK$1,888 per person.


Cookie DPT Drops Two New Cookies

Local cookie maker Cookie DPT just announced two new creations this autumn. Wil Fang's cookie empire covers autumn's abundance of apples in the brand's new caramel apple crumble cookie, where fresh apple compote tops graham cookie dough with apple crumble and salted caramel drizzle topping. The apple crumble cookie is available now until 29 November at all Cookie DPT outlets and online. Cookie DPT also launched its first rum raisin cookie ina collaboration with new bar The Daily Tot. The new creation incorporates dark rum-infused raisins into Cookie DPT's signature oatmeal cookie. The rum raisin cookie is available exclusively at the bar on Hollywood Road.
