Nasi Lemak

Arguably Malaysia's national dish, Grandmama's nasi lemak receives extra love this August in anticipation for Merdeka. While the restaurant's nasi lemak typically comes served with five condiments and a bowl of curry chicken, throughout the month of August diners will be able to instead swap out curry chicken for a wider range of Malaysian flavours – beef rendang, mutton varuval (that surprisingly works), deep fried squid or even udang goreng berempah (fried prawns).

Char Kuay Teow

Made with wide rice noodles, prawns, beansprouts and fish cake slices, the restaurant's take on this hawker favourite has a slightly smoky char with a sweet aftertaste. It's an easy to like dish for fans of this classic Malaysian choice.

Nasi Ayam Istimewa

This special chicken rice is reserved for the truly famished, featuring flavoured rice topped with a runny fried egg, beef rendang, assam prawns and a fried chicken drumstick. The rice itself is oily and fragrant, while the fried chicken is satisfyingly crispy and the rendang soft and tender. The prawns on the other hand, adds a nice flavour contrast to the overall flavour profile.

Sang Har Crystal Noodle Soup

If you're a fan of sang har mee (fresh river prawn noodles), Grandmama's gives this fan favourite dish a twsit and turns it into a noodle soup instead of the typical gravy-based version. The dish itself has a tasty yet subdued broth that tasts of prawn and chicken, that when coupled with silky smooth rice noodles makes for an addictive combination.

Fish Head Curry Hot Pot

A signature of the restaurant, fish head curry is best enjoyed when shared. The curry itself has a rich satisfying coconut taste, pairing perfectly with white rice. Inside, you'll find cuts of fish mixed with long beans, eggplant, and beancurd to add a touch of greens.

Ais Batu Kacang

When it comes to dessert, ais batu kacang is arguably up there with cendol when it comes to iconic Malaysian sweets. This classic choice comes with pandan jelly, lychee, peanuts, corn, red beans, grass jelly and topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream drizzled with rose syrup and gula melaka, making it a cool treat for those with a sweet tooth.
