World Class Chinese Food

You could start the meal with a hearty seafood soup, like Grand Harbour's seafood soup made of braised crab meat, fish maw, fish lips, scallop and crab roe. The soup has a thick and rich crab taste with soft gelatinous nutrient rich fish ingredients, adding additional textures and taste to each spoonful. It has a uniquely rich crab taste and does a good job at getting the appetite going.

If you're big on seafood, go with the poached prawns with Chinese yellow wine on your menu. The prawns can be cooked at the table, or at the side table before being served, giving guests the option see how the dish is prepared.

The prawns are large with a sweet tang, no doubt thanks to the extra flavours imparted by the aromatic rice wine that it is cooked in. You'll want to scoop some of that broth and pour it on your prawns if there's enough to go around (you could also ask the kitchen to prepare more in advance), giving the dish a ginger and rice wine forward taste.

No banquet meal is complete without a dish where carbs are the star and Grand Harbour's Shaghainese style crispy soup rice with assorted seafood is a great addition to any menu. Besides a rich seafood broth and choice ingredients, the core of the dish is the unusual yet highly satisfying interplay between crispy claypot rice and the broth.

The soup itself features a rich prawn taste that matches perfectly with the delicious crunchy rice. The other star of the dish, the rice, has a half crunchy, half cooked texture that really stands out in the mouth. Lots of seafood, such as squid, fish, prawns and scallops, helps to reinforce that premium umami feel, making for an incredible choice.

Braised duck served with roasted pork and preserved vegetables is a Teochew classic that also warrants attention. The meat of the duck is soft and tender, mixing well with the sour salty slices of crunchy preserved vegetables and salty roast pork. Before being served, a waiter pours a thick and rich sauce that strengthens the flavours of the dish with a savoury taste.
