Goût de France is here, proudly sharing the country’s deep love for all things food and beverage

Back in 2015, the Goût de France food appreciation program was created by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and French chef Alain Ducasse. Their goal was to celebrate the best of French gastronomy and responsible cuisine. It has come prepared to feed eager diners and curious minds the world-over from October 14-21, all while hoping to support the F&B sector and promoting healthy eating and sustainability.

Eight chefs are under the spotlight as they have prepared bespoke four-course French menus with delightful wine pairings to be served at their restaurants. You will be able to try the creations of chefs Marc Aubry at Brasserie Sagana, Sau del Rosario at Cafe Fleur, Alain Raye at Dr. Wine. Janus Florencio at Mireio, Miko Calo at Metronome, Robert Lilja at Pardon My French, and Patrice Freuslon at Society Lounge

Seeing as we have been unable to traverse the globe like we normally would, it's a fantastic alternative to be able to pop by any of their eateries and let your palate indulge in some culinary travelling instead. Each menu is based on ingredients from the Centre-Val de Loire region. These eight gourmands were challenged to display their take on responsible cuisine, and sustainability, all while also adding local Philippine nuances. On top of that, the chefs were asked if they could try making meals as wholesome and healthy as possible: avoiding lots of fats, sugar, salt and adding vegetables and grains. French food without copious amounts of glorious fat and sugar? C’est pas possible? Well, we sure are excited to find out what flavours each menu will reveal.

This Thursday, October 21, 2021, you can order a set menu prepared by French chef Didier Derouet, who was once previously based in Baguio City. He has worked as pastry chef and chef de cuisine at five-star hotels around the world for over 20 years, where he cooked French food while immersing himself in a variety of local cultures. His meals which will be delivered to your home, are part of the virtual Les Jeudis culturels / Cultural Thursdays event cooked up by the French Embassy and by the Alliance française de Manille. At the event not only will you be able to dine on classic French cuisine from the comfort of your home, but you will be able to (virtually) participate in a cooking class led by chef Didier Derouet, followed by a French classical music concert by pianist Giuseppe Andre Diestro and cellist Alejandro Consolacion II.

While we are mostly all at home these days, why not allow ourselves a cultural escape into the nuances of another nation through any means necessary? Visit your local restaurants and indulge in flavours of the world, or jump in on the conversation by watching webinars, taking classes or immersing your soul in the arts for some much needed R&R. Bon chance et bon appétit
