The Cronut King is taking his local-inspired pastries and festive treats to IFC Mall

Central is getting another pastry pop-up this December, joining the likes of Richard Ekkebus’ pastry pop-up, Black Sheep Restaurants’ Butter Cake Shop at the Landmark, as well as Eric Raty’s two-day revival of his family’s Mr and Mrs Marshmallow event at Interval Coffee Bar. This December, Tsim Sha Tsui’s Dang Wen Li is set to join the other bread and pastry concepts, as Dominique Ansel’s first local shop crosses the harbour to open a pop-up store at IFC Mall.

Inspired by local tea treats reinterpreted as desserts, cakes, and pastries, Dang Wen Li opened early 2020 and has launched numerous limited-edition items throughout the year, from its highly instagrammable summer fruit-topped eclairs to floral jasmine and lychee cronut. The new pop-up is set to stay at IFC Mall for a few months, tentatively extending beyond Christmas and Chinese New Year

The new pop-up shop will be located within a stone’s throw from confectionery brands such as Sugarfina, Dalloyau, and Pierre Herme. Dang Wen Li’s pop-up shop is a takeaway-only space without a seating area, similar to previous pop-ups at the mall such as Baked Indulgence. Pastry offerings will be baked at the shop’s central kitchen and are sold and replenished throughout the day. Guests can look forward to signature treats from the Tsim Sha Tsui shop, as well as festive treats such as their new Christmas-themed cakes, and a potential array of pop-up-exclusive items to come.

The new Dang Wen Li IFC pop-up is set to open at 1:30pm sharp on Friday, 18 December. The new pop-up is certainly good news in the dire circumstances restaurants and bars go through during COVID-19 pandemic crisis, and of course, we would never say no to a buttery kouign amann from Dominique Ansel on any given day.
