Le Comptoir’s new restaurant jazzes up the nightlife district with art, live music, and Japanese favourites

Following the success of Ecriture mid-2018, restaurant group Le Comptoir returns to Central with a brand new Japanese restaurant. Silencio, taking space at LKF Tower where the upper level of Lily & Bloom previously resided, is the group’s newest opening where avant-garde art pieces, live jazz music, and a vibrant range of contemporary Japanese food and drink offerings come together.

The monochromatic tones of Silencio’s interiors are accentuated by the artistic paintings of Tokyo-born cult figure Tomoo Gokita, whose neo-expressionistic style are on display at the establishment. Club Mature, Gokita’s work in 2015, as well as a dozen more of his creations, embellish the perimeters of the restaurant. The establishment is also home to a live jazz music programme.

Taking the helm at Silencio are Nobu alumnus Sean Mell, and former Bib’N’Hops head chef Yong Soo-Do. Together they combine their experiences working with a myriad of worldly cuisines to form a new contemporary breed of Japanese fare unique to Silencio. Guests can indulge in a wide selection of traditional sashimi or nigiri, as well as specialty sushi rolls, tempura, as well as A4 Miyazaki wagyu katsu tenderloin sando and open-faced foie gras bao with homemade sweet onion soy, caramelised onion and pickled Granny Smith apple. Silencio also offers a range premium sakes, chosen for their unique approaches to sake brewing,  or unpasteurised brews that highlight the sake’s true flavour and essence. The restaurant is also set to launch a seasonal release of a private label sake brewed in collaboration with a 200-year old brewery, available late 2019.
