The celebrated mixologist is opening a new cocktail hot spot inspired by Ernest Hemingway

Paying homage to Ernest Hemingway’s literary success and his sophisticated taste for stylish tipples is The Old Man, a soon-to-open speakeasy located within a hidden corner along Aberdeen Street. Named after the author’s iconic work The Old Man and The Sea, the new cocktail bar is set to open later this July.

Regarded as a cocktail pioneer in Hong Kong, Agung Prabowo formerly managed Island Shangri-la’s Lobster Bar & Grill before moving on to the Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong, where he launched a special rum appreciation pop-up earlier this year. The new speakeasy will showcase Prabowo’s unique take on cocktails with Asian elements, all inspired by Hemingway and his works. His partners James Tamang and Roman Ghale will take the helm running daily operations of this 20-seat hidden bar, where reservations are encouraged with half the tables available for nightly walk-ins as well.
