The Mandarin Oriental's time-honoured coffee shop remains a classic meeting point with unbeatable cooking

The coffee shop at the long-established Mandarin Oriental hotel is a time-honoured meeting point for both social gatherings and business meetings. The food remains as excellent as ever, with the Hainan chicken rice especially being a favourite. The boneless, succulent chicken and bouncy rice is covered in a rich chicken oil, making it one of Hong Kong’s best versions of this classic Singaporean dish. The Indonesian nasi goreng – rice topped with a huge sunny egg and meaty skewers – is another winning dish. The scones, served with aromatic rose petal jam and clotted cream, are exquisite and perfectly matched with a cup of floral tea. The mountains of seafood and freshly baked pastries pulled steaming from the oven are just some of the reasons why the Sunday champagne brunch here has a month-long waiting list.
