Celestial Court’s palatial pagoda-style entrance plays homage its name and the elegant and tranquil setting of the restaurant, located at Sheraton Imperial, makes it a favourite for corporate entertainment. Tables are spaciously set apart, providing privacy for the corporate bigwigs who frequent the restaurant.

Celestial Court’s menu runs the gamut of classic Cantonese fare including a sizeable dim sum menu, vegetarian specialties, live seafood and the requisite Cantonese roast. Get your meal off to a hearty start with their ample selection of soups and the tangy and spicy Imperial hot and sour soup is a sure-fire way to get the appetite going.

A must-try is the signature Hong Kong-style roasted duck, which is executed to perfection with the crisp and savoury duck skin providing a nice contrast to the moist and tender duck meat. Paired with a bowl of steamed white rice, this is Cantonese fare at its best.

Another firm favourite is the delightful wok-fried prawns with salted egg yolk, where succulent jumbo prawns are encrusted with the golden goodness of the salted egg yolk. For something lighter the chef recommends individually served steamed black cod. This palate pleaser is delicately cooked in a light and nutritious broth, and served on a bed of spinach, topped with scallions and a dollop of spicy chilli oil to complement the sweet flesh of the fish.

Round up the sumptuous meal with the refreshing chilled avocado puree with walnut ice-cream that will leave you wanting for more.

Celestial Court’s extensive wine list and recommended wines, handpicked by the sommelier, is praise-worthy for Chinese restaurant. As a restaurant in a five-star hotel, diners can also expect a range beers, liquors, soft drinks, juices, coffee and teas to accompany their meals.

Service is unobtrusive and promises privacy from the get go. Recommendations are mostly on the signature dishes and recommendations on seasonal offerings or further insights into the restaurant’s offerings would be much welcomed.
