Chef-partner Seth Lai's restaurant is mostly French at heart, but diners should expect to experience innovative Asian twists on many of the dishes

Flowers feature prominently at Ce Soir, a fine dining restaurant housed within a black-and-white colonial building on Portsdown Road. Beyond the dried floral arrangements defining the interior décor, blooms appear in their freshest form throughout chef-owner Seth Lai’s modern Asian creations. In this intimate setting, refined amuse bouches—such as the signature taro dumpling with wagyu tartare—lead into a progression of courses defined by considered flavour and textural precision. From the opening act through to the elaborate palate cleanser, stunning dessert and petit fours, Lai’s eye for presentation is evident. To ensure guests enjoy his work at its peak, several dishes are presented tableside. The wine list is decent and predominantly French to complement the fare; a particularly strong selection of champagne makes Ce Soir a prime location for celebrations.
