Stellar skyline views, modern European cuisine and excellent service

All-day dining venues in hotels are often a little uninspiring in their ambience—but that certainly isn’t the case at The Upper House’s only restaurant Café Gray Deluxe. Located on the 49th floor of the hotel, the venue’s contemporary muted décor allows all eyes to be on its seriously sensational cityscape views, seen through its many expansive windows; even the washrooms here boast glittering panoramas that plenty of the city’s rooftop bars would kill for. Café Gray Deluxe’s modern European cuisine is similarly sophisticated, with premium ingredients and seasonal set menus focused on organic, sustainably-sourced dishes. Whilst everything is cooked and seasoned well—highlights include the tangy “Kunz ketjap” sauce in the steak tartare, and the full-bodied richness of the saffron pasta fiore’s ragu-like stewed tomatoes. The wine menu is extensive, with a good number available by glass and
a sommelier on-hand to offer recommendations. Service is top-notch throughout the night, with the friendly staff proving knowledgeable about dishes and ingredients—and all too happy to help guests take photos against that stellar skyline backdrop.

Tatler Tip

If you miss out on one of the restaurant’s spectacular window-side seats, don’t feel guilty about taking your phone to Café Gray Deluxe’s washrooms – the views there are incredible, too.
