Beefbar breaks the mould of a steakhouse chain. The Hong Kong branch of this European empire channels sophistication, with streamlined marble interiors and a meat-centric menu. Steak, including the best-selling Black Angus ribeye cap, is cooked as requested, charred outside and a perfect red inside. There’s a wide range of non-steak items too—think carpaccio, tacos, burgers, excellent pasta and potato cream. The wine list features more than 400 old and new world labels, with a knowledgeable sommelier on hand and plenty of half-bottles available. Vegetarians are welcome, and with advance notice, can request off-menu items.
