Hidden in plain sight within the Hotel Southern Star, Bar Spirit Forward is what happens when one of Asia’s most respected bartenders decides to do things the old-fashioned way, by actually caring about the drinks and the people across the counter.

Founded by Arijit Bose (of 28 Hong Kong Street fame) and run with Rohil Kalita and Pritish Dakhode (ex-Bar Tesouro), this is the anti-speakeasy: no fake mystery, no hidden entrance—just three bartenders, three stations, and a counter humming with good energy. The Southern Star, with tequila, fermented plum and guava, sets the tone: inventive, layered and alive. Heisenberg, with rum, mastiha, absinthe and blue spirulina, brings a touch of theatre. And if you’re in the know, ask for the Campfire Old Fashioned, a quiet nod to the classics that built this team’s reputation.

There’s food too: anchovies on toast, pork belly, snacks that punch above their weight. It’s everything Bangalore’s bar scene was missing: warmth, precision and a bit of rock ’n’ roll.
