Bar Rocking Chair

A traditional Kyoto-style machiya turn cocktail bar by the acclaimed Kenji Tsubokura
In the heart of Kyoto, Bar Rocking Chair occupies a space converted from a traditional, 100-year-old machiya, or traditional wooden townhouse, where the most coveted seats are by the fireplace, in the rocking chairs that give the bar its name. Run by Kenji Tsubokura, winner of the World Cocktail Championship in 2016, the bar doesn’t have a menu, with bartenders whipping up original cocktails for guests. Some specialities are available, however, such as The Best Scene, which is made with gin, elderflower and melon liqueur, with a hint of yuzu. The bar makes its desserts using premium spirits, such as tiramisu and chocolate ganache that feature single malt whisky.
Tatler Tip
Save space for house-made desserts infused with premium spirits. Think tiramisu or chocolate ganache, made with single malt whisky.
