Bandra Born

Contemporary   |   Mumbai, India

Bold, loud and unapologetic, this restaurant challenges authenticity with a type of fusion that refuses to be pigeon-holed

90s rap sets the scene when you step into Bandra Born’s dynamic space, where patrons lounge and converse with ease, staff move from one table to the other without intrusion and mahua cocktails, crafted with a traditional flower-based spirit, flow from the bar. The menu is Mumbai in its most unfiltered form, rooted in tradition and unafraid to embrace its history. Think a pastrami sandwich that stuffs kadak pav (bread roll) with smoked ox tongue, oxtail jam, emmental and brinjal (aubergine) pickle; fish skewers with mango sambal, dukkah (a blend of nuts, seeds and warm spices) and a side of citrus salad to balance it out; an East Indian crab curry paired with a flaky croissant pav (soft roll); while the Return of the Kerala vanilla cake: white chocolate mousse, salted caramel and a almond-cacao tuile, rounds it all off.
