Located in Tai Po, the new beach opens on June 23 and will provide a new leisure facility for Hongkongers

There's a new beach in town. Tai Po Lung Mei Beach, which is managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) opens to the public on June 23, providing an additional choice of leisure facilities for public use. This is especially exciting news as international travel is still on hold or some or come with various restrictions

The new beach spans about 200 metres long and is complete with facilities such as changing rooms, showers and washrooms. Lifesaving services are available from 9 am to 6 pm every day between April and October. This will be extended from 8 am to 7 pm on the weekend and public holidays during the peak summer period from June to August.

From the photos, it seems that there is also a mini-observation deck to admire the view, although it doesn't have any seating available. There are also 96 bicycle parking places available as the area is located nearby the cycling hot spot, Tai Mei Tuk. While it might be smaller than other beaches, this new alternative allows for a more intimate time with friends and family. You can also drop by here while cycling to admire the sunset or if you're looking for a rest stop.

Tai Po Lung Mei Beach is located at 168 Ting Kok Road, Tai Po and near Tai Mei Tuk Public Transport Interchange. You can take bus 75K, 275R (available on Sundays and public holidays only) or green minibus 20C from Tai Po Market Station and alight at the Lo Tsz Tin stop. It's about a two-minute walk from the beach.
