This Valentine’s Day, a getaway is just next door. Spend the afternoon in the arms of a masseuse—and your loved one—at the Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort & Spa.

It’s not an official holiday, but for lovey-dovey couples, it might as well be Christmas all over again. Even if you’re happily unattached, there’s no better time to grab a girlfriend, as I did, or your chummy male companion for a treat at So Spa by Sofitel, and enjoy the full benefits as a guest of Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort & Spa.

Just the Two of Us
For a therapeutic experience, go for the So Well In Love special of the month, a wellness version of the spa’s popular couple package. Aside from a day-long use of all on-site facilities, it comes with a scrub, a one-hour massage and a relaxing bath with drinks all in a private couple’s suite.

Sweat It Out
First up, a one-on-one personal training session at So Fit. Two options are available: butt-kicking interval exercise or holistic yoga. Seeing that I might have gained a couple of kilos post-festivities, I opted for the former. You can work with a personal trainer to tailor your heart-pounding 60min workout to your exact liking at the two-storey gym. I told mine to “make me regret this tomorrow” and he delivered. I woke up the next morning with a sore core, tired gluteus and satiated sense of accomplishment.

Wind Down
My immediate reward was a massage at the outdoor couple’s suite (indoor option available). My therapist started me off with a much-needed foot scrub and soak before proceeding with the spa’s signature The Sentosa Massage, a deep tissue massage which helped me fall into relaxation mode after that rigorous workout. Two thumbs up!

After sipping juices in the soothing bath, I roamed around the spa garden. The women’s outdoor area has a float pool with a waterfall ideal for a quick dip as well as a mini New Zealand mud pool. As the use of the facilities is unlimited and free, make sure to leave enough time for a quiet stroll in the meditative labyrinth tucked in a corner.

Movie for Two
Hungry stomachs will be delighted at the sight of the complimentary canapes at the Garden restaurant as well as a comprehensive dinner and drinks menu. No complaints over my Construction Salad and spicy seafood angel hair pasta, especially when they were served just in time for the screening of The Great Gatsby by the pool. Movie by the Pool is a rain-or-shine ticketed activity, complete with gourmet popcorn, where guests can expect romance titles on Fridays and kid-friendly blockbusters on Saturday nights.

Call It a Night
By the time the movie credits rolled, it was past 11pm. It would be too cruel to go home then, so to be able to slink back to our room was more than lovely. Our junior suite was exactly what we wanted—simple and cosy—but a night in the Villas du Jardin is as luxurious as it sounds. Secluded yet spacious, one of the two rooms is equipped with a massage-jet whirlpool and a walk-in closet. And hey, a morning lap in your own swimming pool followed by a stretch on your private garden terrace isn’t too shabby either.
