Singapore's long-awaited Vaccinated Travel Lanes are finally here, but they come with a lengthy (and at times confusing) list of requirements. Here's a simple break down on how to travel under this "new normal", including how to apply for a Vaccinated Travel Pass, a full list of designated VTL flights and more

1. Select Your Destination

This is the fun part. There are currently 11 countries under Singapore's Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) arrangement, including the United States, South Korea, UK, France and Italy to name a few.

Not sure where to go? Check out our list of All the Places Vaccinated Singaporeans Can Travel To.

The Vaccinated Travel Lane allows fully vaccinated passengers to travel between Singapore and these designated destinations without the need to serve quarantine or a Stay Home Notice (SHN), provided that they fulfil certain requirements. Find out what they are, and how to meet them, below.

2. Book A Designated VTL Flight

Flying out of Singapore: With the exception of South Korea—which requires travellers to book designated VTL flights both ways—travellers from Singapore can take any flight to their chosen VTL country. Direct flights are preferable, as transit in a non-VTL country could affect your eligibility for quarantine-free travel. However, transit flights in another VTL country are fine. For example, you need to transit in the USA to reach Canada.

VTL Flights To Singapore: Travellers must book a VTL flight when returning to Singapore. You can find a full list of Singapore Airlines designated VTL flights here.

Other airlines offering VTL flights to Singapore include Lufthansa, Air France, British Airways, KLM Royal Dutch Airways, Korean Air and Scoot

3. Apply For A Vaccinated Travel Pass (VTP)

Upon entering or returning to Singapore, a Vaccinated Travel Pass (VTP) is only required for short-term visitors and long-term pass holders.  Singaporean Citizens and Permanent Residents returning to Singapore via the VTL do not need to apply for a Vaccinated Travel Pass.

4. Pre-Departure Tests

Pre-Flight Test Required: Those travelling to Canada, Italy and USA must take a pre-departure COVID-19 test within 72 hours before their flight, and those travelling to South Korea must take a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test.

You can find a list of testing sites approved by the Singapore Ministry of Health (MOH) here

No Pre-Flight Test Required: Denmark, France, Germany, Netherlands, Spain and the UK do not require a negative COVID-19 test result for entry.

Testing Required When Entering Singapore: Those travelling or returning to Singapore must do a PCR test within 48 hours before departure to Singapore.

A full list of MOH-approved clinics and medical facilities around the world, including all VTL destinations, can be found here.

Tatler Tip: Book your test ahead of time to so you can work it into your travel itinerary and avoid any unnecessary stress during your holiday.

5. SG Arrival Card & Testing On Arrival

Those flying into Singapore must complete their arrival card, no earlier than three days before their date of arrival in Singapore.

Apply for your arrival card here, where you can also book and pre-pay for your PCR test on arrival, which is a must for entering Singapore.

Tatler tip: Set a reminder on your phone so this critical step doesn't slip your mind while you're busy enjoying your trip.

Happy travels!
