Want to be a digital nomad post-pandemic? Airbnb is offering this opportunity to 12 people

As the Covid-19 pandemic continues with people from many industries opting to work remotely, the notion of digital nomad is no longer limited to a young traveller living and working in a destination with like-minded peers. The concept is expanding to include basically anyone looking for a change of scenery to live and work.

Despite challenges including navigating time zones and the lack of stable internet connection, the nomadic lifestyle trend is still going strong, and many remote workers have found themselves becoming more productive than they ever were in a traditional office setting. Some enjoy the freedom and flexible schedules they have; others are just happy about the opportunity to explore the world and meet new people.

And if you’ve ever dreamt of becoming a digital nomad, being able to work from anywhere in the world and travel constantly, Airbnb is about to help you get one step closer. The short-term rental platform has just launched a new giveaway to give 12 lucky individuals a chance to live exclusively in listings on Airbnb for a year. The cost of accommodations will be covered and Airbnb will also offer the winners allowance for transportation and even help them organise local experiences. All you need to do is share your experiences with Airbnb and give them feedback about the programme, to help the platform develop future product upgrades and innovations.

“The experience of living on Airbnb has been truly transformational for us,” said Debbie Campbell in an official statement. “Live Anywhere on Airbnb will give even more people the opportunity to see the world through a whole new lens just as we have. We’re excited to see more people living and working from wherever they choose.”

According to a recent Airbnb report, the share of stays 28 days or longer on Airbnb increased 10 per cent in nights booked when comparing 2019 to Q1 2021. Eleven per cent of their long-term stay bookers in 2021 reported living a nomadic lifestyle, with 74 per cent of consumers expressed interest in living places other than where their employer is based, even after the pandemic is over.
