The bucket list Silversea Cruises and Classic Journeys itinerary is poised to set sail this December

Classic Journeys has just announced it will be offering a once-in-a-lifetime cruise itinerary in collaboration with luxury cruise line Silversea. The incredible 17-night journey will take passengers through a myriad of bucket-list destinations including Patagonia, Antarctica, and a breathtaking solar eclipse viewing from the middle of the ocean—without any light pollution to spoil the experience.

Starting in Chile, travellers will have the chance to experience everything Patagonia has to offer by way of Classic Journeys’ naturalist guides. Travellers will get to see the Torres del Paine National Park, walk to turquoise lagoons, and even experience Patagonian gauchos on a working estancia before heading to the Argentinian city of Ushuaia. From there, travellers will hop aboard the ship and begin their journey to Antarctica; navigating through the notoriously rough waters of the Drake Passage along the way.

The journey to Antarctica will also coincide with the day of the solar eclipse in an area that’s expected to offer the perfect conditions for viewing the eclipse; alongside astrologers and scientists available to answer questions and add color to the viewing experience. “The midnight sun at this time of year makes everything all-the-more magical, and that goes into overdrive on eclipse day,” Classic Journeys explained in a statement on its website.

Throughout the incredible journey, guests will travel aboard the 254-passenger Silver Cloud cruise ship in total luxury and comfort—something that rarely goes hand-in-hand with such adventure travel. What’s more, a good portion of the ship’s staterooms come equipped with private verandas which makes it easy to enjoy spotting whales, seals, penguins, and albatross over your morning coffee.

Prices start at US$24,995 per traveler with the option of extending by three days to experience Easter Island’s infamous Moai statues up-close and personal along the journey back to South America.
