The design was unveiled as part of a competition held with the instructions to design a landmark tower in the region that has lately seen much urban and architectural growth and developments.

The questions asked were, "What does a new ‘tower’ mean in the 21st century?" and, "How can a tower evolve while continuing to attract attention, as the Eiffel tower does?".

The New City Center Landmark competition made the decision this year to not award the first prize. Instead, they decided to position second place with the top rank. This prestigious award was awarded to Sou Fujimoto Architects for their forward-looking design.

Sou Fujimoto Architects' design is truly impressive so keep reading to find out everything you need to know about this floating water tower.

1. How big is the proposed tower?

The proposed tower is set to be 880ft, which comes up to 268m tall. It will also be made up of not one, not 10, but 99 tower-like pieces that will be joined together by a horizontal plane in the top section.

The horizontal plane will gradually fade away as you go lower down the structure to give you the impression that it is floating in the air.

The central core will serve as the basis for the tower which will be held together using tension cables to make it look like there is water flowing down to the bay.

2. What will the tower be used for?

The proposed design is set to host a restaurant, a cafe, an exhibition area and an observation deck on the top deck.

There will be mirrored inverted frozen geyser within the cables, which will house this viewing platform so you will get to look out into pure bliss as you go about your day.

The social centre will provide phenomenal views of the city and the bay from 880 feet above sea level and you will, of course, be able to get a 360-degree view of everything.

3. What does the building signify?

Sou Fujimoto Architects' design is the perfect way to make a statement about a consistently evolving city.

Not only is the structure designed to allow viewers to look into the future of urban living and architecture with its futuristic and dystopian-like design but it is also functional and blends seamlessly into the cityscape.

With a bit of luck, we may actually get to see this design come to fruition in the future as our world continues to develop.
