Throughout the years, Dubai has become synonymous with luxury and excess—a vacation destination for those who appreciate over-the-top opulence. So it should come as no surprise that the city will become home to one of the most luxurious on-water accommodations. Known as the Sea Palace floating resort, this extravagant hotel is set to become the world’s only floating resort in operation.
According to a Lonely Planet report, the Sea Palace floating resort is currently being built by Seagate Shipyard, an Emirati ship-building company that specialises in on-water building. The company has previously launched floating glass boat homes and a myriad of similar designs.
The innovative luxury resort will consist of a main hotel that will be surrounded by a total of six floating houses—all of which will be made to detach and float on their own. In terms of design, the resort will feature transparent flooring, furniture designed by Aston Martin, and a slew of other luxurious amenities that will make the stay memorable.
Seagate Shipyard also aims to make the resort an eco-friendly alternative to other on-water accommodations; the property will come equipped with automatic smart systems, self-sterilising air filters, solar energy panels, and on-board garbage recycling systems.
“I believe this type of project will create a boom in the tourism field,” Mohammed El Bhawravi, founder of Seagate Shipyard and the project owner told Lonely Planet in a statement, adding that the houses and villas are currently in the last stages of construction—with about 65 percent of the total build completed.
The exact open date for the Sea Palace floating resort has yet to be released to the public but more information and viewing opportunities can be arranged by visiting the official Seagate Shipyard website.
