1. The Sticks
Escape the concrete jungle of Kuala Lumpur with a peaceful stay in this off-the-beaten-track glamping retreat at Fraser's Hill in Kuala Kubu Bharu. The retreat features 12 beautifully designed houses. From the peaceful Riverside 'Tendok' (a cross between a tent and a 'pondok') or the Bamboo House designed to accommodate two adults, to larger quarters like the Serengeti Tent or the spacious Opera House (pictured above), the living spaces here certainly live up to the task of placing guests in the arms of nature, with just the right creature comforts included. All rooms come with ceiling fans, plush beds and water heaters with spring water in their attached bathrooms.
There are a variety of jungle treks adjacent to the retreat which suit beginners to more advanced hikers. Families here can enjoy home-cooked delights that include a barbecued feast under the stars, Continental breakfast and even afternoon tea. Meals are free for kids under two years of age.
