The revolving restaurant at Hopewell Centre is given a whole new facelift

The highly anticipated revolving restaurant on 62nd floor of Hopewell Centre is given a whole new culinary injection as well as a new interior outfit. What use to be R66 (Revolving 66), a restaurant better known for its revolving feature rather than its food is now the home of View 62 by Paco Roncero.

The new dining venue is given a modern look by local designer Ricky Hung of UN Design. While the design isn’t earth-shattering, the new look uses purple and gray hues paired with the use of timber, and divides the space into three: bar lounge, private dining area and the main dining area. Leading you from the lift walkway to your tables is the use of black-polished steel rods to create an almost cage-like feeling and in case you get lost during a ‘turn’, coloured panels are placed around the core in order for diners to identify where their table is, should they need to excuse themselves to the washroom.

The most prominent design element, setting the overall tone of the restaurant is the designers use of wooden rods – all of 50,000 – hanging vertically off the ceiling, we’re told the designer arranged “to mimic an experience in the clouds”.
