There are many reasons to visit China’s most cosmopolitan city—just off the top of our heads, you can explore the 400-year-old Yu Gardens, take a stroll along the Bund, or check out some of the best bars and restaurants in Asia. And now, with the new St. Regis Shanghai Jingan, which just opened on May 21, you also have an additional ultra-luxe incentive.

Blending traditional Chinese styles with Western hotel design, the interior decor incorporates Chinese calligraphy and traditional gold foil paintings, as well as five commissioned works from glass sculptor Dale Chihuly.

As St. Regis Hotel & Resort’s ninth hotel in China, this latest opening highlights the country’s booming tourism industry. “China has seen an incredible increase in tourism, particularly among luxury travellers, and we are excited to meet this demand by bringing the St. Regis brand to Shanghai,” said Stephen Ho, Greater China CEO for Marriott International.

Expect the legendary around-the-clock St. Regis Butler Service, and six different international restaurants and bars serving local Shanghainese cuisine, Cantonese favourites and live-cooked Japanese teppanyaki. It's also worth stopping by the St. Regis cocktail bar for one of their renowned Bloody Mary's.

The hotel’s wellness suite comprises an indoor swimming pool, a 24-hour fitness centre and the Iridium Spa, for guests to relax in after a day in the bustle of the city.

Situated in the business and cultural heart of Shanghai on West Beijing Road, the St. Regis Shanghai Jingan features 491 guest rooms, of which 66 are suites; additionally, it houses 55 residences.

The crème de la crème of this luxe hotel is the Presidential Suite: a 650 square meter opulent pad occupying the top three floors and boasting a glass ceiling and panoramic views of the skyline from its outdoor terrace. It’s the perfect place to enjoy the sunset before you hit the town.
