The Philippines consistently wins awards for its majestic beaches, dive tourism, and more at the 2020 World Travel Awards Asia Winners Day

Prominent for its vast bodies of waters and diverse marine life, the Philippines boasts of captivating sceneries that are incomparable. Only in the Philippines — as most people say — you will find a place that radiates happiness, either from its people, culture, dishes, or world-renowned tourist spots.

The Pearl of the Orient continues to shine with its crystal waters amidst these times. Even then, its beauty is not left unnoticed.

The Philippines has been recognized as Asia's leading beach destination and Asia's leading dive destination by the 27th World Travel Awards. Over and above, out of 11 nominated countries, the Philippine's Department of Tourism was declared this year's leading tourist board in Asia.

“We are truly honoured and thankful for the accolades given to the Philippines at the 2020 World Travel Awards Asia. These recognitions are certainly an inspiration to the industry as we safely and gradually reopen our destinations for tourism. These would not be possible without the combined efforts from our tourism stakeholders, local government units, partner agencies, and our fellow Filipinos who have tirelessly promoted our country’s attractions, products and culture,” Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat shared after the Philippines had just been declared as Asia's leading beach for the fourth time and Asia's leading dive destination for the second time around.

Local tourists can now revisit their favourite destinations across the Philippines as the Department of Tourism continuously supports its reopening while making sure these destinations oblige with health and safety protocols. Begin exploring a much-needed break in Baguio, Boracay, El Nido, Ilocos Norte, and various diving sites in Batangas province without a huff.

Dive tourism, one of the key areas in the National Tourism Development Plan (NTDP) 2016-2022, is also an experience that local tourists can do to peek into the beauty of the Philippine seas.
