If you haven't caught up with SBS’ hit K-drama The Penthouse: War In Life return, there’s going to be a lot to unpack

Teasers are slowly trickling in for The Penthouse 3, giving excited fans just little nuggets of what to expect from and predictions of the upcoming season. Equally as thrilled are the cast and production crew members of the K-drama, which centres on the lives of a group of elites in the ultra-luxe Hera Palace, one of the most highly coveted addresses in South Korea.

Actress Kim So Yeon, who recently bagged the best actress award at the 57th Baeksang Arts Awards for her performance as Cheon Seo Jin, revealed her predictions for The Penthouse 3 in an interview.

“Wouldn’t Cheon Seo Jin be released from prison early? Even though she shouldn’t be? I think she might let go of everything but hold on to the Cheong Ah Foundation no matter what,” Kim said, adding that she hopes Cheon Seo Jin would meet a dramatic downfall.

While The Penthouse 2 has paved the way for plenty of questions begging to be answered in the upcoming season, one thing is certain: there’s bound to be cutthroat (literally or otherwise) drama packed in every single episode so blink and you might miss it.

Here’s what to expect from The Penthouse 3:

1. Min Seol Ah to return?

SBS released an intriguing 14-second teaser featuring some items symbolic to the storyline of The Penthouse including the apple necklace which belonged to Min Seol Ah (Jo Soo Min), the Cheong Ah Arts Festival trophy, and Na Ae Gyo's/Shim Su Ryeon's (Lee Ji Ah) butterfly tattoo on the back of the Hera statue where Min Seol Ah ultimately met her brutal death.

It's just enough to keep fans speculating, "Is Min Seol Ah making a sudden dramatic comeback in The Penthouse 3? Does this mean there'll be more to her story arc and her death?"

In the history of The Penthouse, a few characters (Bae Ro Na, Oh Yoon Hee, Shim Su Ryeon) miraculously returned after being presumed dead so it wouldn't be all that surprising if Min Seol Ah waltzes into The Penthouse 3. The question is, how?

2. Logan Lee x Shim Su Ryeon

The finale of The Penthouse 2 threw a major curveball in the happy ending that the heavily shipped Logan Lee (Park Eun Seok) and Shim Su Ryeon rightfully deserved, with the former presumably killed in a car explosion–but fans wouldn't have any of it.

In an SBS special, Penthouse 2 - Hidden Room: An Unfinished Story, the cast was asked about the fate of Logan Lee and if he would be returning in The Penthouse 3. In response, actress Eugene said, “No one knows. Logan himself doesn’t know yet."

For context though, Eugene herself has had firsthand experience with making dramatic comebacks. Her character, Oh Yoon Hee, was presumed dead after being stabbed in the neck in The Penthouse 1 but she came back stronger and better in The Penthouse 2. If that and the K-drama's reputation are anything to go by, we may just see Logan Lee rising from the ashes. Fingers crossed!

3. Life in prison

SBS offered a glimpse at life in prison for parental characters Ha Yoon Cheol (Yoon Jong Hoon), Lee Gyu Jin (Bong Tae Gyu), Kang Ma Ri (Shin Eun Kyung), and Go Sang A (Yoon Joo Hee), and it's a far cry from their previous lives of opulence at Hera Palace.

Donning prison garb, the characters appear to be struggling to survive in prison–a way of life they're most certainly not used to. “Please keep an eye on how Lee Gyu Jin and Ha Yoon Cheol, who wind up facing danger upon danger, manage to survive prison life," the drama's production crew said.

Expect both intense and comical moments as Ha Yoon Cheol, Lee Gyu Jin, Kang Ma Ri, and Go Sang A attempt to navigate living with their inmates.

Note: Neither villain extraordinaire Joo Dan Tae (Um Ki Joon) nor Cheon Seo Jin (Kim So Yeon) is seen in the teaser stills. The plot thickens.

4. The kids' final battle

If there's anything that The Penthouse 1 and The Penthouse 2 have set up, it's the kids' story arcs to have their own personal dramas, intertwined with their parents' dark ambitions.

As the seasons progressed, fans watched the young characters mature and develop into becoming their own, removed from their parents' turbulent storylines. With most parents serving time in prison, what's in store for the kids?

“The kids of The Penthouse 3 will engage in another fierce battle as part of the final college entrance competition. Please keep an eye on the steps taken by 'The Penthouse kids' who have escaped from the shadows of their parents and are becoming more independent characters," the drama's production crew revealed.

5. The new additions

We were already introduced to Jin Bun Hong (Ahn Yun Hong), the creepy housekeeper who tries to assume a mother-daughter relationship with Cheon Seo Jin's daughter Ha Eun Byul (Choi Ye Bin) towards the tail-end of The Penthouse 2. It'd be interesting (albeit a little creepy) to see how that dynamic pans out in The Penthouse 3.

In the finale episode of The Penthouse 2, we were given a glimpse of Joon Gi (On Joo Wan), who was seated next to Logan Lee on a plane. Who is he and what connection does he have with any of the characters Additionally, we saw Yoo Dong Pil (Park Ho San), the husband of Kang Ma Ri and the father of Yoo Jen Ni, fresh out of prison and perhaps out for blood.

The Penthouse 3, consisting of 11 episodes, is likely to be the final season of the series. Thus, expect the storyline to be a lot more intense than that of the previous seasons.
