New Zealand-born Rosé grew up in Australia until she was 16 years old and made a life-changing decision to audition as a K-pop artist under YG Entertainment. In June 2016, she was the last member to be revealed among the four girls of Blackpink.
In one of her interviews, the young artist revealed that On The Ground is a poignant reflection of her musical journey: “The reason I feel inclined to it is because of how much it matches my life one-dimensionally. From when I was a trainee, I lived day to day, running towards my dreams”.
“Once in a while, there are moments where I’d question my motives, and I think the lyrics express this really well. I think this is something to learn from as well,” she added.

The song’s lyrics “I worked my whole life just to get high, just to realize that everything I need is on the ground,” highlights Rosé’s efforts to be in Korea’s biggest girl group. Now that she has achieved one of her biggest dreams, the artist realized that everything she truly wanted in life has always been within her reach.
In the coming days, other members of Blackpink are also set to release their own solo projects. According to reports, Lisa, the group’s lead rapper, will release her debut record sometime this year. “The solo releases by the members will continue in sequential order, after the release of Blackpink's first-ever full-length album [in October]," YG said.
